CJ stands for Civilian Jeep and it replaces the MB model which is military Jeep. Jeep was introduced into the civilian market in 1945 with CJ-2A, being the first model. During the war, jeeps were put into action through sawmilling, firefighting pumpers, field ambulances, tractors and more, thanks to its off-road capabilities. They built a new vehicle on the same prototype designed by Bantam. However, the army though that the company wouldn’t be able to supply the quantity needed on time, so Willy’s and Ford were taken into loop. It not only fulfilled the then army requirements but competes well with other car brands in the market today. It all began when the American Bantam Car Company responded to an army request for a four-wheel reconnaissance car. Who could have thought a US Army manufactured car used for transportation could become the stalwart of the automotive industry. Jeep, a legendary American car features an exciting history.
